OUR STORY

Home entertainment including movies and home cinema equipment is a passion that we share with all of you. For some people it is a way of life, for others just a hobby but we all share the same love for this unique activity.

That’s how the idea to have a portal where you can search anything you want and make it easier for you to find what you need for your home entertainment pleasure was created. And from this simple idea Home Media Entertainment was born.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Stratos KampourogiannisMy name is Stratos Kampourogiannis and I have been dealing with home theaters and home cinema equipment for more than 25 years now.

At the age of 15 I built my very first home theater system when VHS tapes and Dolby Surround Pro Logic AV receivers were the cutting edge of technology and from that moment I never watched a movie again without some kind of home cinema system.

Home cinema is my passion and I live and breath for anything that has to do with this extraordinary activity.

OUR GOAL

From physical media reviews for movies, to home cinema equipment, home entertainment articles and news this is a website made so you can find anything you need for your home entertainment center.

If you ever need any help or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and we will be more than happy to help you out. Also don’t lose the chance to subscribe to our Newsletter and gain exclusive privileges. Alternatively you can send us your emails at info@h-m-entertainment.com

  1. HME is a HUGE undertaking for a website. Each menu item is a niche in its own right. Your passion drives this website.

Clearly, you are an action genre connoisseur. This is great for action genre aficionados. Is it your intention to be a movie critic, or only review movies you like?

A lot of work has gone into the content in your articles. You may be using a voice recorder to create them. This is a wonderful way to save time. From the tone of manufacture’s blurbs connected with each product compared to your exposé or review on the item, there appears to be a difference.

Several times I noticed errors in grammar or punctuation, leading to my suspect of a voice recorder being used. For example, with manual typing, spell check catches, lower case i, prompting our revision. I urge you to review for errors to be corrected before publishing.

Many of your movie review articles are long & verbose. Comments are made on comments as if you are speaking to a friend. I like that in your about page. In a review, I want the meat of the matter to help me decide if I want to watch the designated movie or invest in the product.

Again using a voice recorder records everything say. Sometimes everything is not relevant. Sometimes too many words loses or bores the visitor. This is a skill to be developed.

I hope this helps you to be a better blogger & product reviewer.

    Best wishes,

    • Thank you Lovetta for your post. HME is a labor of love for anything has to do with home cinema entertainment. I know that each category is a niche of it’s own but I don’t want to focus in one specific category as I want to offer my readers as much variety as I can. I will be reviewing as many movies as I can but because I don’t want to focus only in movie reviews, I try to be a bit more selective without this meaning I will be reviewing only movies I like.

All my articles are hand written, nothing is done with voice recording. Some grammatical errors you may see happen because English is not my native language. I am reviewing my articles for corrections but there will always be some of them that I will miss. I will always try my best for my readers and I want this to be one of the basic principles of this blog.

Wish you a very nice day.

      • Hello, I do not know here you got your information about the samsung hw-q990 soundbar, but it thous have Chromecast and it works with Google home and thus without any problem a multi room solution. I work in a hifi tv shop in Belgium and we specialize (for the smart part) in audio that operates with Google items. And this is a bestseller, you can cast without any problem… or combine it with many other smart speakers for music. (Philips, jbl, harman kardon, canton and so on)

        • Hello Tony and thank you very much for your comment and input. Probably you haven’t read my review very carefully. I clearly stated that the Q990B does not support Chromecast and Google Assistant in specific markets, not all markets. Indeed in certain regions both of them are built-in and work fine but this is not universal and since we don’t have a comprehensive list from Samsung on which markets they offer these and which they do not we just mentioned this in order for our readers to be careful and read the specs in their respective markets.

  3. Hi Stratos.
Love your hard work, but had a thought regarding the reviews.
I would like to see right at the beginning of a review, perhaps in the “pro/con window”, at what price you did the review. Since hardwareprices fluctuate all the time, it would be great to know at what pricepoint you judged and compared it.
Otherwise the price/quality and other grades means less, or can almost mislead people in rare cases, not least this crazy year when prices sometimes went up instead of down over time because Covid.

    Otherwise, Rock on!

    • Hello Peter. Excellent suggestion you made there! I agree that I should add the price each unit was at the time of review. Then the price/quality grade would make much more sense. Thank you so much for your suggestion and I will certainly take this into serious consideration!

  4. I appreciate your reviews. My only criticism is that you seem to like everything you review equally. For example, I’ve been trying to figure out if I should get a Marantz 5015 or spring for the Onkyo rz50. But j really can’t decide based on your reviews because you say both of them sound amazing with movies and good with music. I don’t care about options, only sound quality. Based on your reviews I can’t tell which one sounds better. Thanks!

    • Hello Paul. To be honest I don’t think you will be able to distinguish any meaningful differences in audio quality between the two. Maybe with sound equipment it would be possible to see which one is better but the reality is that our ears is the best judge and if our ears cannot hear the difference what is the point. Purely based on sound quality output I really wouldn’t put one one above the other because really I cannot say that they had so many differences to tell them apart. I would suggest you to choose the one that have the features you want the most at the best price possible. And as a last note keep in mind the shaky condition of Onkyo. Not that there is any immediate danger to go under but surely Marantz is a safer option regarding their future support and customer service.
